Here is my deal. I have a ps3. Also 3 computers. Now, PC #1 is hard wired to the wireless router. "Never Used" PC #2 is on the wireless connection. PC #3 is also on a wireless connection which is my main PC I choose to use. I want to be able to transfer data to my PS3 using PC #3 "my main horse". My PS3 is a 60gb. Now Im ok with computers but far from considered really good. I know about file types & what the ps3 will & wont play. Honestly Im here to ask how do I do this. Now when it comes to running an online gaming system Im an idiot. It is my 1st one. Could someone step by step tell me how to send an mp3 to my ps3 for example. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well the super hard way that I think of would be to install apache on your computer then use the PS3s web browser to go to the internal I.P. of your computer and download the tracks that you have already placed into the web folder that everything is directed to when accessing your computer. This is obviously not that easy so I would suggest using that FTP thing that I think someone made for the PS3. I dont have any info on it so maybe someone will give you a name or somethin.

You know, if you are computer literate, you could try that apache server thing to send file to your PS3. Just search for "apache web server"(without quotes). Install it then put your songs in the net(or whatever) folder. Then just type in your computers internal I.P. in the PS3 browser. If everything is working you should be able to download them. But remember, when you type in the address, you need to make sure you type in "http://192.168.1.4/thesong.mp3" without quotes, using your computers I.P. and the full filename. If you just type in "http://192.168.1.4" or "http://192.168.1.4/", it will search for an index page(i.e. index.html). If your very computer literate, it shouldnt be that hard.

EDIT- NOTE: THIS IS A POTENTION SECURITY FLAW! But not that big of one. Just make sure you close the server after transfering the files otherwise someone could access your computer.

Well if you want to try this way, what you would basically do, assuming no problems occur, is this:
    1. Find, download, and install apache server.
    2. Put MP3s in the internet folder within the installation folder of apache.
    3. Find local I.P. address of computer running apache server.
    4. Startup PS3 web browser and type in the http://*I.P. address of your computer hosting the files*/*song name*.

This will take FOREVER if you have a lot of songs to transfer so I would suggest FTP if its out there. If you still want to sit there and keep typing in the song names for each one, I could try to help you out. But it will take forever and its not fully garrentied that the files will work. I setup a basic server and had problems with getting corrupt file transfers.

Will find a way if I have to go get some more discs to take data from burned discs. I heard you can send them from the memory card too. "gotta buy a card now" I figure just load whatever on the card from pc & stick it in the PS3. Think it will work before I go buy this thing ?

Psh, sure. If you have a 60GB model that has the memstick slots, you can just put your music on a card then put the card into the PS3 then load it. As I dont have a PS3(although I REALLY want one), I'm not sure if you can copy to the HDD but I dont see why Sony would be so stupid as to not allow you to.

i can confirm that it is just as simple as wierdname said; just make a folder called PS3 on the memory card, and a subfolder in it called MUSIC or VIDEO and you should see the videos and music on your ps3. then just press triangle and you should be able to copy over the files. if the files don't show up, just press triangle when you highlight the memory card and select show all. then you can manually find hte videos and music
