go to the link i had posted, select your windows, select audio, select any of the via ac97, scroll down to middle of screen & press the orange/white box that says Via Vinyl Audio & download it to your desktop or where ever you download files/programs to. than go to that file & run & see what happens, post result

Well I have downloaded and installed the drivers but nothing works. The sound appears to play but I just can't hear anything. There is no error in device manager, it ssys the device is working fine. When i try to play any sound it appears to play but i can't hear anything. I am running two operating system - one win98se and winxp professional and there is no sound on both.
Earlier there was no problem. Once there was a mistake in my pc so i took it to the person from whom i broght it he then replaced the motherboard and install a new hard drive. Now everything is working fine accept the sound.
I am having a KOB P4M266 NDFSMx motherboard with onboard sound.

I have checked that nothing is muted and also the onboard sound is enabled in bios.

It has been 4 months now yet no solution.
I tried drivers from via and motherboard site yet no sound.

    Please help.

possibility that a power regulator for onboard sound has died as i have ran into that problem with add on cards but was able to replace regulator & sound worked. check the motherboard for any cans(capacitors) that are domed instead of flat top or leaking brown stuff. otherthan that might have to get a pci sound card but disable onboard sound in bios. see if that tech can get sound working if board under a year old still under warranty

regulator supplies power to sound chip but won't show an error in windows. i guess than you have to get a pci sound card than

I have the same issue with a computer I built. Everything looks ok no brown stuff leaking ect.... Also I can't burn CDs they don't burn at all even though the prog will say they're done, they'll burn somewhat then mess up or they will burn all the way but songs will be skippy ect ....

Ive tried everything !!!! I think it's a bad board and those freakin ARABS at Comp Terra are to blame. If you people ever shop using pricewatch then stay away from COMP TERRA they have a good raiting because they buy it off of people by offering a free mouse. Unless you pay for their $30 1 year warranty they will not get back to you until your 30 days are almost up and they will keep dicking you around to send the board back to the maker. Yeah its like that they don't even refund or exchange for broken crap they send to unknowing customers and it's our job to let the word out!!! Stay away from compterra!!!!!!
