HELP. Not sure if hardware or software

    I had a dreambox dm500s setup and working, then i tried to update it one day n now its stuck at the boot up screen, ive tried all resets so its now back to factory settings thinks that means blank, i bought this (ebay.co.uk\RS232-Serial-Null-Modem-Cable-Updates-Dreambox-Technomate-Humax-Eurovox-EchoStar-/230859579680?pt=UK_Computing_Parallel_Serial_PS_2&hash=item35c04da120) and this (ebay.co.uk/itm/PCI-RS232-Serial-2-port-Card-Com-9-pin-Window-7-Vista-XP-Fast-Delivery-/250987162600?pt=UK_Computing_ComputerComponents_InterfaceCards&hash=item3a70002be8) plugged it up using dreamup but doesnt find the box on any channels that come up? help :)
