I'm a newb at this sort of stuff, but I've looked everywhere I can on the Internet to find help. I need a model from a Japanese PS2 game, so I tried to open up the game. Here's what I've done so far:

I started by burning the ISO for the game into a folder using DVD Decrypter as explained on this thread. Then I used IsoBuster to open the ISO and extract the files into the same folder. Once all the files from the game were extracted, I looked through them to find the models. There weren't any files that looked like they had character models in them. I eliminated the .AFS and .PSS files, since those are audio and video. But that leaves me with a whole bunch of .BIN files. That's where I'm running into problems.

There are no .CUE files with the .BIN files. I brushed that aside and tried to open the .BIN files with some programs. Didn't work. I converted the .BIN files to .ISO files with a program called BIN2ISO, then tried to use IsoBuster to open the .ISO files. Still didn't work. I'm fairly certain the models are in those .BIN files, but I can't open them.

So here's what I've been thinking:
    1. Those aren't normal .BIN files. Maybe the Japanese have some sort of special .BIN file that requires a certain program to open. I don't think this is the case because some of the files are in English, and I opened the .PSS files without a problem, but I guess it could still be a possibility.
    2. The files could be corrupted. But I don't think this is the case because I ripped them straight from the disc and the game still plays just fine. And I opened the .PSS files just fine.
    3. I'm just being a naive newb and doing something wrong. This is the most likely option.

Can anyone help me? I was hoping to use a couple of the models to make papercraft models. I'm pretty sure that's not considered piracy, especially because I already own the game, but if it is on this forum I'll delete this thread. And if this has been posted before, I'm sorry and I'll delete the thread.

There's also a single .CVM file that looks a bit suspicious. Anyone know what those kinds of files are used for?

Tales of Destiny (remake) PS2 and Japan Exclusive

    System.CNF
    IOPRP300.IMG
    Boot.IRX
    DAT.TBL
    MOV.TBL
    MOV.BIN
    DAT.BIN
    SLPS.xxx.xx

And I wouldn't really worry asking about this sort of thing. There are a bunch more people asking for way more illegal things to be done but really, it's up to them to decide what's wrong and right.

    PS2 Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix (KH2:FM, not the KH:COM PS2 remake)

    PAD2\DS2O.IRX

PS2 Tales of the Abyss Undub (US version but with Jap voices)

Also, here's something for you to note. The ToA US version has practically the same files and file names as the Jap ToA version except the ISO size for the US ToA game is a few hundred megabytes less than the Jap ToA version because the US one omitted the voiced skits.

Thanks for the reply. I made this thread under the assumption that the .BIN files were something like folders for the character models, but it's looking less and less like that. But do you know if there's a way to open up the .BIN files anyway? I'd really like to get access to the models.

And it's actually Narutimate Accel. Not that those are bad games anyway.

Tales of the Abyss was less than good in my opinion despite playing it for several times each higher difficulty given. It simply got more repetitive than fun unlike Tales of Destiny (remake) where I especially appreciate how deep the gameplay was compared to how stale ToA was. Anyway, enough with me ranting about games, as for how to get the character models from Naruto Accel (whatever the exact name is), the most I know of was how to hack Naruto Accel and edit the background music where you mess with the afs/adx from here.

Edit: You could try asking some in alucard.cc to make you an extractor, but you should really follow their rules before you post asking one although they seldom respond unless you got to their IRC channel or something I guess (if I recall them having one). I believe there may be tutorials and guides there explaining how to extract character models, but I don't recall it exactly either. All I remember was someone was ripping KH character models and had posted the thread asking for help and showing his results.

Thanks for the suggestion about Alucard.cc! There's a ton of stuff there I can use.
