What does I/O (input/output)mean? What does this mean when trying to encode a movie? The encoding process (which is what I think the first step in copying a movie is called) only goes so far then I get an error message that says:
dvd shrink 3.2 encountered an error and cannot continue. Failed to read "E:\". The request could not be performed because of a I/O device error. Thanks

Make sure the disk is clean and not badly scratched.

It's possible that shrink is producing this error because of copy protection it can't handle. If this is the case, try ripping to your hard drive with DVDfab decrypter first, then open the video files created using shrink and let it do its thing.

    DVDFab decrypter
    http://www.dvdfab.com/mlink/download.php?g=DECRYPTER

    Or try using ripit4me
    http://www.ripit4me.org/

You could also try a 21 day free trial of anydvd

If nothing works, return the disk and exchange it for another.
