OK, i wasnt sure where to put this.

I just reinstalled windows & am using media player 9.

    I have almost 7000 songs, 500 music videos/films & 5000 pictures.
Months ago i had to fix them all out as they would say,
Jessica Alba.jpg or How To Save A Life.mp3.

Everything was fine until 5 minutes ago,
Where i noticed they all have the extensions again.
I tried removing .mp3 from a song but it said it wouldnt work.
It just leaves it as a file with no way to change what it opens with.

Anyone know why this happened & if theres a quick way to fix them?
    Any help/advice is appreciated.
    Cheers

In Windows Explorer go to Tools > Folder Options > View tab > check "Hide extensions for known file types".
