I just purchased the recorder (Panasonic DMR-ES15) and as I was going through the initial setup i accidentaly set the tv aspect type to Progressive when my TV wont support it. Now I cant see anyhting on the screen except Bright Blue. Can anyone fill me in on a succesful way to fix this and change the setting back. I am out ofthings to try.

go into setup, then there are options on the left, scroll down and you will see on the right the setting to change that, the picture will then come in.

oops, maybe that info was for another recorder. When i was posting, i was recording and could not access the panasonic menu.
look in the manual or call panasonic or email them, my manual is in storage.

I've had the same problem and have just found the solution. I didn't get the user manual when I bought my machine, so I downloaded it from http://panasonic.com.au/content/library/files/F001802.pdf

Anyway, what you have to do is:

    1 While stopped
    Press [FUNCTIONS].
2 Press [e,r] to select “To Others” and
    press [ENTER].
3 Press [e,r] to select “Setup” and
    press [ENTER].
4 Press [e,r] to select “Tuning” and
    press [q].
5 Press [e,r] to select “Manual” and
    press [ENTER].

On step 5 I chose AUTO instead of MANUAL, but both should work.

Hope this helps, as this one was infuriating. Panasonic didn't make it very intuitive at all.
