I was in the middle of acessing my Halo2 folder in my games folder on my f drive when i suddenly lost connection. I tried to FTP again but i still would not connect. I conntected my xbox to a TV and rebooted it to see if i could fix the problem. It boots up but with no video. If i screw with my controller enough i can get it to acess the version of halo saved in my hard drive ( can hear the theme song) so i know everything is working properly, i just cant FTP and i cant see anything except my vcr's searching for signal screen.
Can anyone lead me in any sort of direction because i honestly dont know what to do and im a little worried.
Any help would be greatly appriciated

Check your AV lead for any bends that may have caused internal wires to break. Or borrow a friends Av cable and try that. If not the socket on the back of the xbox may be faulty.

no its definatly my hardrive because i cant FTP and it tried swapping out the harddrive from my other broken xbox and it started up fine with that same cable, but i cant run it with that harddrive because it makes a really loud noise while my xbox is running. so to recap, its not a faulty cable.

Is the new Hdd a ATA or SATA, As SATA drives wont work with xbox. Also has the new drive been droped or banged?? if no to all these then sorry but thats all i can think of.

Well, if it was sata, you couldn't physically connect it. So that's not the problem.

I understand that it's not FTPing, but that doesn't necessarily conclude that it's the hard drive. In fact the mention that there is no video distinctively proves that it is not the hard drive, if it were you would see an error code.

I couldn't assume where without a your xbox, an electrical meter, and a few hours of testing; but it sounds like you might have a short somewhere. Have you opened your xbox a lot, and have you done any mods that use power, such as inserting leds into it? In the time that you've owned it, has anything come into physical contact with the mainboard or it's components? Any chance something could have caused minor damage to one of the circuit traces? Also, are you the original owner, and has anyone other than you opened it even for a quick look?

Lastly, did you do or experience anything unique with the system before this started?

The fact that video and FTP don't work tells me that the OS isn't loading at all. If it were the drive, the video would still come up, it would just be an error code, not a black screen.

If you backed up the eeprom, you can rebuild it all with xboxhdm; if not, you should be able to fix it with a modchip, a lot of people do that.

Hey, lol, no worries. We all have our moments. Is it the way that the cord itself needs to bend, or that the jack needs it to push in at a certain angle? I ask, because cords are easily replaceable; especially when you might be looking at a possible fire hazard...

Either way, glad you got it working!
