how/can i connect a video to pc with s-cable??

    want to put some stuff that i record into my pc can i get video and sound by using a s-cable through my videocard connection - what program do you use to view and record into the pc?

    i should have mensioned that its a video camera i'm trying to connect to pc its a sony trv78e model a bit old !!!!!!!
