how do i check the model of LG drives?

    apparently the dvd drive on my sister's computer is LG, but i cant tell which model it is. someone please help?

    You have to take it out of the computer, and look at the top of the Drive, and it should say on there what the model is!

    You can do this without taking out the LG drive.

    Below are 2 ways you can see what Model # the drive is...

    Use Nero Info Tool

    Use ImgBurn
    [​IMG]

    The drive must be one of the beow model #...

    LG-8164b or LG-8163b or LG-8162b or LG-8161b

    Alright you can do it without downloading any apps at all.
    Goto Start, Control Panel, System, Click the Hardware tab, Device Manager, Click DVD\CD-Rom Drives and there it will give u the make and model. Then if you right click the DVD/CD-Rom drive and click Properties then goto The Details tab you will see something like this
    IDE\CDROMPLEXTOR_DVDR__716A_____________________1.11__________\93842yusfa

    IDE = The interface you use
    CDROMPLEXTOR_DVDR_716A = The make and Model of your drive
    1.11 = Firmware
    93842yusfa = some garble that i dont understand lol

    not that it matters anymore but almost all drives the model number is mentioned on the top of the drive on the sticker
