i have an 85 min. mp3 that i created and i want to set tracks on it... i dont want to split it with another software because everytime i split it, it always ends up having gaps....anyone knows what dj's use to burn their nonstop dance mixes to a cd?

also can i do this as an mp3 file? not audio?

Try burning in "Disc-At-Once" mode, which should eliminate the gap between tracks.

I don't know what djs use but I know how you can do it:

What you need is a cue sheet (.cue file). It's a file containing information for the burning program where to split the file to tracks.

There are several ways to get a cue sheet:

    1. There are cue sheet databeses on the net where you can get cue sheets for many well-known CDs. (Ask google for details.)

    2. Create a cue sheet
2.1. Using Exact Audio Copy (EAC): If you have the original CD use "Copy image + create cue sheet" (compressed) and you're finished. Most burning programs (including Nero and EAC) can use the cuesheet for gapless burning.
BTW: If you want to burn an audio CD - why don't you burn from a lossless source directly (e.g. .wav file)?

2.2. Use mp3DirectCut to create a cue sheet (details see manual/older related threads here).

2.3. Create a cue sheet using a text editor. To understand how it works you should create a working cue sheet using EAC (see 2.1), open it with a text editor and adjust it.

2.4. Probably there are specialized cue sheet editors out there, but I don't know any ...

Some audioplayers, e.g. foobar2000, can use cue sheets similar to playlists and play single tracks out of big mp3 files seperately. For PC use you could use other gapless compression formats such as Musepack MPC (high quality lossy) or lossless (e.g. Monkey's Audio).

does this mean i will need to convert the 85 min mp3 into bin file?

or.... i just need to make a cue sheet and then burn mp3+cue?

No. The .cue file is used to burn an audio CD. Should work with Nero, a free program capable is Burrrn.

To check quickly if the .cue file works I recommend foobar2000 (http://www.foobar2000.org). Drag'n'drop the .cue file on the player. All tracks should start at the correct position.

    Don't change it.
For use on PC your mix will stay stay as a skippable mp3; for use on standalone CD devices you'll get a gapless, skippable audio CD - gapless, skippable [/b]mp3[/b] on standalone/porable devices isn't possible ATM.

BTW: Here are two helpful related links:
