how do I disable DMA for firmware update for my Sony burner

    I want to update my firmware for my Sony DRU 500A, but I can't figure out how to disable DMA setting??!! Help please!!!!

    Running Windows XP on a Compaq 6410nx.

    I am using XP pro, go to my computer and right click >properties > Hardware > Device Manager > IDE/ATAPI controllers and choose the channel your Rom is installed as and set it. You will note that there are choices, primary and secondary, if your are uncertain then just turn them all off (p10 mode) till you are done and then reset them. You can make similar changes on most mainoards in the set-up, if you are concerned then turn that off too, just remember or write down the changes you've made.
