How do I format a hard drive?

    I have 2 hardrives i only want to format 1 of them how would i go about doing that? Also after i format it like wat do i do so i can install windows xp

    what operating system are you running now. also which drive to be format, master or slave & which 1 is getting xp presumably master

    You can boot off a Windows emergency startup disc which will put you in dos mode. Then type in format c: and it will tell you that all info will be erased and ask if you want to continue. Once format is complete just insert the XP CD to install. Before you do all this make sure you check that bios is set for boot from CD.
