   I have the matrix chip installed, obviously, and thought I had the eject trick working as well. When I eject a disc, the xbox reverts to the MS dashboard, but the LED on the chip remains green. Is my chip disabled or not?

   The LED on the chip will be red when it's disabled. It has to be in mode 3 to use the eject button to disable it.
