I've downloaded some films to my pc's hard drive and transfered them to my ps3 but they wont play (says corrupt file)do i need some sort of decoder.its just a windows media file etc.
Yellow Dog Linux Operating system For PS3 seems such a hassle .

It will have to be converted to play on the PS3.
Try NeroRecodes HDTV profile, or PS3video9.

    2 ways of playin them
    1. convert them from avi to mpeg
    2. burn then to disk, iv tryed both and they both work

A GOOD CONVERTING PROGRAMME IS PS3 VIDEO 9 BUT IT TAKES A WHILE

Whats the original file extension and what codecs where used to encode the audio and video?
Do you know the framerate, is it interlaced or deinterlaced?
    PAL, NTSC etc.
