How do I play DVD images from my hard drive??

Hard drive space has gotten so cheap, I'd like to start to store my DVDs on a central server and just play them off of it. My questions are: 1. what format? can an iso image play directly off the HDD? 2. what software will play dvd images off of a hard drive? Can Windows Media Player be made to do it?

My file player that came with my graphics card (ATI 8500dv) plays ISO files just fine off the hard drive.

You can use DVD Shrink ... just DVD Shrink.

I would do movie only. Doesn't matter if you create a video_ts or iso image. Once the image or file is created ... Open Shrink -> open the file and click the play button in the lower left.
