How do I run my 360 in 1080p?

I just got a new 1080p LCD and can't get my 360 to run in 1080p. It runs fine on the other HD settings and looks incredible. When I enter the settings and switch it to 1080p my screen goes blank for a while until it switches back to the previous setting. Has anybody else had this problem? Do I need a higher-quality cable than the component cords that come with the 360? Is this a compatability issue with my TV and the 360, and if so can it be solved? I know not many games use 1080p yet, if any, but the dash should still be visible shouldn't it? Thanks in advance dudes.

yeah, if your tv suports vga . Almost everyone carries them. Im in the same boat but i've seen 1080p vs 1080i not a big difference but if you simply must have 1080p now grab them, but I've heard that some people don't like them either you may want to wait for the new rumored black 360 with hdmi http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=14468
