Hi, I have just purchased a home theatre package and am wondering if i can put all of my cds onto one device/storage-thing that attaches to the receiver for listening? If so, would my music just b in one big clump and impossible to find certain albums or would a storage-thing sort it into catagories? Or do I need to buy an mp3 player? Sorry if these questions r daft but I never really understood digital music. Any enlightenment would b appreciated.

    Hi,

I have heard of specialized music (hard drive) music servers that do what you wish, but they may be pricey.

An external USB HDD might be compatible with your home theatre package, in which case you could organize your music however you like.

Thanks for that. My setup will support a usb connection and an external hard drive seems so much cheaper (& bigger) than an mp3 player. I'm just not sure how music will be organized on one (do I download a media player onto it as well?). I will try to get a cheapo little one to experiment with!

No need for WMP, just connect it to your PC and copy/organize your music over to your external HDD.

You could get a small H/D and a external enclousre with usb output.
Organize the files on the H/D with your pc and then plug the unit into receiver.
