    Hi there,
hope someone can help or advise,

sorry but didnt know exactly where to post this?

I am transferring some of my old videos onto disc. I have copied the vhs onto dvd+r disc (from a dvd recorder/vhs combi). My problem is that there is a logo, like an icon that is permanently embedded in the top right of the recording, and an overlay of text that scrolls across the bottom of the recording once every 15 mins or so.

I would like to remove these nasty features from my disc if it was at all possible and was wondering if there were any software that would allow me to do this, or am i stuck with this ?

Once again apologies if i have posted this in the wrong section.

By the way you guys are the tops! This is by far the best forum i have ever come across.

Is this on all of the recordings?
What is the logo or icon and what is the text.
I have recorded many tapes from a tape player to a recorder (not a combo) and never came across the problem.

apologies i should have explained myself clearer,

Originally it was vhs recording done by a freind(circa 1990's before dvds)...this other person came by the video and decided to add vhs editing by putting a permanent embedded image on the top right corner and periodical text which scrolls on the bottom of the recording vhs. It is nothing to do with my copying the vhs. Its the only vhs copy i had and wanted to preserve it on dvd but without the embedded logo and the scrolling text.

So i have a dvd+r disc which i wish to remove the icon and text, if possible.

It ain't going to happen without a signicant quality loss, which seeing as these are VHS transfers will make them even worse.

You could convert to AVI (one quality loss) and use one of the VirtualDub's Logo Removers (these are far from perfect, they try to blur), which entails re-encoding again (an other quality hit). Then you would have to convert to DVD again (more loss).

You could load the VOB into VirtualDub-mpeg2 and test the null transform cropping feature to see what the result might look like.
The output would be an AVI but if your player could handle DivX (data dvd) then it might be worth a try.

Thanks Attar, I missed your reply in between posts.

Would this method remove the icon in the corner as well ?
