I use Nero Recode, but i hate doing my backups that i have to compress more than 70%......so i used the rebuilder for the first time...it does not say how well it compressed it...is there anywhere where i can see the compression %..

In the end, you are still creating a file that is small enough to fit onto a DVD-5, compression ratio is simply the amount of compression required to reduce the original file down to about 4.31 GB (or so), ratio and final size should not differ much from one program to another. Where DVD-RB differs is not in the final output size, but final output quality. Because it uses and encoder and not a transcoder, it utilizes those 4.31 GB much better than Shrink, Recode, etc. Just watch the two films, one created with Recode and one created with DVD-RB, you will definitly see a difference in quality, especially if you have a large or HD (or both) TV and use the zoom function on your DVD Player.

Actually I don't think this is an option in the free version, I'm pretty sure you have to do the full disc with the free version. But you could use another program like Shrink, Recode, or CloneDVD2 to reauthor the movie the way you like using no compression, then import these files into DVD-RB to compress.

try the zoom feature on your player! that's where you'll see the diff! I have a 52" HD-TV and I love RB!

you can process before using RB ..... JDobbs discorages it but I, and other members, use DVDRemake to edit out things and then use RB! So, yes it can be done...... but using a transcoder and then RB? NO!

I just did a movie with rebuilder that had hardly any extras so i didnt use remake....i took off some off the audio tracks and let RB do its thing...when it was done it says the output folder is 4.62 GB.....i go to nero and add all of the files and in nero it says the file is too big to burn on a 4.7 disc....whats going on?
