    hi all
    im thinking of getting the pvr and would like to know a few things before i splash out nearly £200:

    a. can i use the software with vista? not necessairily a problem
    b. i currently have a starview clone and v****n BB coming into my house feed, will the reception suffer?
    c. is there series link, or can i put recorded programmes into different folders? im guessing not
    d. can i upload recorded programmes to pc via usb link? im guessing yes.
    e. do the subtitles work on programmes as they dont show on my starview clone?
    f. finally... i know that v****n recently blasted the dodgy modems on their network, what are the chances of something similar hapening with all starview boxes other than changing codes?

    thanks in advance
    neilie

    Hi
    I have TheBox PVR and very pleased with it.
    A = I would think so, Vista must work with USB or RS 232
    B = You will only get some signal loss if using splitters for extra boxes on the same line
    C = No
    D = Don't think so, not tried. I either delete or scart out to DVDr
    E = Not seen any
    F = Very unlikely

    Thanks jb. i was hoping you would reply as i know you have the pvr.
    one final question... is the epg reliable? does it work properly because if it doesnt then it would make the machine a bit useless as a pvr.
    thanks again

    Hello
    The EPG on my PVR doesn't work that good to be honest, only works on some of the chanels but its well worth spending the extra cash on the PVR just for the pause TV option and record TV. I got told that you can transfer recorded TV to your PC via the USB port but i have not tried it yet

    Hi
    The EPG gets more reliable and quicker to restore with each release,and I have always managed to use it for preset (late night) recordings with no bother at all. I have version 4.506 15thOct2007 in mine and it is reliable. The wife also has a Starview TheBox (non PVR) in another room downstairs and I have updated hers (to Ver 4.54) because the EPG would come up blank every morning, now it ok so she's happy.I have read of poeple giving quite good ratings to the Kryptview box, so maybe worth looking at that one also, its quite a new box on the market so not sure about updates or teething probs.

    Hi goggon27
    Try the latest software in the non PVR box which I mentioned in the above post (to Ver 4.54) its kept the wife happy. The EPG is fine now.
