    If you use ConvertXtoDVD.
File > Add Video File, and select both .avi files

Both files show on left panel.(cd1.avi and cd2.avi)

Right click on first file and 'add subtitle channel'
Locate the subs associated with this .avi
The subtitles should have the same name as the video (except they have .srt as the extension) cd1.srt and cd2.srt

Do the same for the second file.

Remember to set your tv format in 'Settings' before pressing 'Convert'.
    Good luck.

I live in NTSC land and use the default for subs.
If your TV is 4:3 and the video is 16:9, the first line of a sub will be on the movie and the second will be in the black bar of the letterbox.
You can adjust them in the subtitles setting tab.

You either have the same screen 4:3 that came out in the fifties or a new wide screen model... which everyone in Europe seem to have.
