That's true, DVD games don't make any noise at all.
If you want to backup DVD games to DVD-r (or +r) you will need a DVD writer.
You can only burn the DVD-rom games to DVD (and the CD based games to CD-r).

If you want to boot these DVD copies in your PS2 you will need a good modchip like Messiah, Magic or DMS3.

Thanks Wizkid for the quick reply....
My PS2 is using Messiah for the modchip
Is it true that there's no way to backup a CD based PS2 games to a DVD-R??

Because sometimes a CD based PS2 Games on original games is build on DVD PS2 Games on the piracy games.

It's not possible and why waisting money !
    A DVD-r will cost a lot more then a CD-r these days.
To lower the noise of a copied CD-r game you have to try and burn it on a lower speed like 2x and use for example black backsided CD-r's.
I use Parrot and another black backsided brand for CD-r.

I don't know what you mean with the last sentense.

Well i just want my laser to live longer if i used a DVD.

on the last sentence... what i meant is e.g: the Pro Evolution Soccer 2 games... the original one is using a CD, but the pirate one is using DVD as a media... since i play PES/WE series all the time... i think i want to backup to a DVD

Well i'm not sure myself wizkid... is the original one a CD or a DVD... because on the pirate they sell 2 version, one is CD and the other one is DVD...
I'm sure if i copy DVD to DVD it will work...
BTW i don't wanna backup a Pro Evo games... but i want to backup the WE6FE (the newest konami games)

Give this a try if you really want to see if it will work or not. This is a tutorial for doing a file the other way around DVD to CDR but I re-worded it to fit your needs CD to DVD-R

    Using Prassi

    1. Start Primo
    2. Select "go to full application"
    3. Right Click the drive that has your original in it
    4. Select "build global image" and choose a path for the image (preferably on an NTFS opsys)
    5. After the image is extracted go to next step
    6. Choose the 3rd disc icon from the left *or* click file, new job, Global/Other Image
    7. Then just burn the .gi (global image) of the game *Using a DVD-R disc in your DVD Writer*

It doesn't hurt to try it for yourself. I have not tried or heard of anyone trying this so good luck.

I backup my playstation DVD-games with:
    SONY DVD DRU500A
    RecordNow
    Platinium DVD+R media

All backups are done ok except for the latest EA PS2games. They seem not to fit on a 4.7GB DVD.
Is there a solution to this problem ?

    Sorry, wrong thread
