I have a Memorex Dual Format 4x DVD burner that has been updated with the most current firmware. When I go to burn images in either Nero or Alcohol sometimes I will have the option to burn at 1x and other times only at 2.4x minimum. With some games like GTA San Andreas the load time is slow because of burning at 2.4x. The textures don't load fast enough if I am driving fast.

Is there a way to get these programs to allow me to burn images at 1x?

    I use Verbatim 1x-8x rated DVD+R media.

    Thanks,

    BJ

+r media can only burn as low as 2.4x. -r media can burn down to 1x.

The only thing is that it doesn't give me the write speed option of 1x in the drop down menu at all. It doesn't know if I am using - or + at that point.

I could see that happening if I selected 1x write speed and put a +R to burn.

With DVD Decryptor I can select to burn at 1x but it'll burn at 2x no matter what. Anyone have similar problems?

    PiperBJ (Newbie)<- : )

do you mean fast or far? cuz if you you mean far, you dont know too much.
when you load dvd decrypter, it scans your computer for devices (dvd burners, roms, whatever drive you have installed) than once it finds it, itll tell you your drive stats, can it burn at 1x? 2.4x,4x? do on and so on. once you insert a blank disc in to that drive, itll scan the disc burning speed features, there youll find the speed that the blank media can be writen at with your dvd drive, (burner) please dont say you cant write images to dvds with dvd decrypter. dvd decrypter is by far one of the most essential dvd ripping, and burning tools in one freeware program; it can rip ps2 games,dvd-5 movies it can also burn .iso, video_ts files, so on and so on.. i dunno what youve been reading, check the dvd decrypter guide again
