Hi, I have faithfully followed the detailed instructions below, yet when I get to add the filter the list does not contain textsub as an option. Do In need to install something else?

Fantastic! Thank you so much, it worked perfectly. I was a little thrown that the preview of the dub showed no subtitles but once rendered there they were. Brilliant.

    Hello,

I copied "textsub.vdf" from the Gabest/VobSub folder into the plugin folder of VirtualDubMod and got this alert:

The application or DLL C:Documents and
Setting\Videodrome\Desktop\Egg\VirtualDubMod_1_5_10_2_b2542\plugins\textsub.vdf is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.

In VDM, I go to Video, Filter, then Add but no textsub option is listed. I do see VobSub 2.23 but no textsub. I did a FULL install of VobSub and did everything step-by-step according to Darkhadou's instructions. Please help.

    Cheers

I need some help, and in advance, don't worry, I'm not someone complaining about textsub (for the 5 millionth time). :p
I am trying to Demux the audio stream from my avi video file, because I followed your directions for the addition of subtitles and when I tested the finished product, I couldn't hear any sound.
(P.S. also in testing it I found that my subtitles had been added twice, creating an overlapping effect, but I only did your subtitle instructions once. Although this is not my priority, it is a bit of a nuisance, but if I have any major issues I guess I can rely on my high school French.)
    When I hit demux and then hit save, it gives me this popup;

"No audio decompressor could be found to decompress the source audio format."

So, basically, where could I find such an audio decompressor for download? Or am I doing something wrong?
I have tried ac3, as well as the wav file option above the demux button. Same thing happens with both. And it won't let me save any other type of sound file.
    Help please!

    UPDATE!
I got the sound working, I just had to download an ac3 codec and then play it in divx.
But I still have the little problem of the overlapped subs. Any help?

    UPDATE #2!
The subs issue resolved itself. Now I feel like an idiot.
    Truly sorry for wasting time.

Also my VirtualDub keeps crashing, any ideas.

    1) Do a full install of VobSub and all the other downloads.
Open up VirtualDubMod and then go to File and Open your AVI file. If it gives a message about VBR then click "NO".
    2) Then click on Video-->Filters-->Add now here- depending on your subtitle file format- if your subs are in srt, sub(text), smi, ssa format then click on textsub, if you have an idx/sub/ifo subtitle add the VobSub filter intead. Now click on open and select your subtitle file. Then click OK and OK again.
    3) Now go to Video-->Full Processing Mode.
    4) Click on Video-->Compression and select either DivX or XviD (depending on which one you downloaded at the start) and click OK.
    5) Finally go to File--> Save As and save your combined .avi file, this will take roughly 3-6 hours to make the finished .avi file. Once done, test out your video to see if the subs are combined (this method should work on whatever format subs you have)

    Hi,

I need some help Immediately in step 1 itself

The vobsub is not getting installed completely.

After half installation, it asks for another location to instal Virtual * something. If I provide any of the drive, it gives an error message and the installation stops.

You are trying to install the VirtualDub plug in from VobSub. The installation asks you where Virtual Dub is in your computer, what folder.

Avi Recomp is another program that you can use to embed subtitles, no extra plug-in required to download.

Thank you very much. I have downloaded this. This seems working only in preview mode. How to save the file onto a new location.

    Thanks in advance.

After you are done with all your settings and choosing a location for the new file, click "Add to Queue" and then "Start".

?! "I have done that. This is what " is not a valid integer value. "?!

Is that an error message or something?

That means probably that somewhere in the settings you entered " instead of a number. Check the values in the settings again.

Thanks so much, I was missing the point where I have to specify the size of the new converted file.

    Thanks again for your help.
