There is no way nowadays to download MP3 sound directly from YouTube video. Normally, I download YouTube video with youtubedownloader and then extract mp3 from YouTube video with some programs: http://i-loveshare.com/youtube-to-mp3-converter/

First it doesn't appear that the OP cares about our answers!
Simplicity lies in the eyes of the beholder...
Downloading a video is easy, we have also seen online links to convert YouTube to MP3, as well as the suggestion of renaming the temp file by ps355528.

The last option does not work always. I thought I would drop in one more option. Download Audacity (free), because of software patents Audacity does not offer MP3 encoding software, but you may install LAME MP3 Encoder. It is available for Windows, MAC, or Linux.

After you have that software installed open Audacity, then drag and drop the video you downloaded. Select File > Export Audio and you have the option to save the MP3 giving it the name of artist, song name, etc. etc.

NOTE: With Audacity if you have a video with multiple songs, you may edit them and separate them into individual tracks. Audacity is a great piece of software with a ton of different types of editing available to you.

6guns I agree. Audacity always works if you can hear the audio on your computer. That would have been my suggestion had ps35528 hadn't made a reasonable suggestion which movielover ignored probably because the solution was so simple. I don't wish to capture youtube audios. I prefer max fidelity. I have an insanely large audio library. If there is something I want and do not have I buy the CD and rip it. If you want something done right do it yourself. I am not big on live recordings and that is where YouTube shines.

I use easy Hi-Q recorder from Romer Software to rip streaming to mp3. Works best with a desktop with a free standing sound card. If you have a playlist, you can have it keep each song separate by carefully setting the "break at silence". It has instructions on how to look for hidden sound recorders in your machine and my success with laptops is about 50%.
