I have captured 1 hour of avi from my minidv and the size is about 13.5 GB. It is to big i cannot keep it on hard disk, i am trying to make it a smaller avi or mpeg without losing much quality. Anyone can suggest a good tool to do the conversion ??
    thanks a lot

yep use Virtual Dub. Open the avi and under one of the settings menus you can select 'fast recompress'. Then you select the codec you want to reencode in, for which I would recommend DivX or Xvid, and bob is indeed an uncle of yours. You can also make it so that the re-encode is a lower bitrate if you want to reduce the file size, obviously the quality might suffer though.

    Good luck
