    aloha, everybody.
you may laugh at me, but only recently i got into this whole dvd burning buseness... and immediately ran into a problem of having a DVD+RW drive and buying DVD-R media without paying attention to pluses and minuses :(
now i have a NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A drive, and i found on some website about its write compatibilities:
"Disc at once, Track at once, session at once, Packet Write, incremental write, restricted overwrite
    CD-DA, CD+(E) G, CD-MIDI, CD-ROM, CD-ROM XA, MIXED MODE CD, CD-I, CD-I BRIDGE (Photo-CD, Video-CD), Multi-session CD (Photo-CD, CD-Extra, Portfolio), DVD-R (Ver 2.0 for General), DVD-RW (Ver 1.1)"
as u can see, DVD-R's are there, BUT it doesnt recognize my DVD-R's :(
Does anybody know a way to upgrade software or firmware or change some settings to achive that? has anybody done that? anybody u know of?
    thanx!

Hi renat, I just checked a few places to see if the NEC 1100A can be hacked for -R media. I can't find anything on that model. The first model listed for that is the 1300. Here are 2 sites if you want to check yourself.

    http://www.videohelp.com.
This site show your burner and what it can burn. Also some owner comments.

    http://www.rpc1.com.
This site has almost all hacked firmware possible.
