I used to do this by doing the following, i got a connection that comes with a minidisk player that would allow me to plug from the casstee tape to the microphone slot in the on the back of the PC. I could then use Nero Wave Editor to record!

    1. Connect the stero-out of your casette deck to the line-in of your PC/soundcard.
    2. Use a decent sound sw like SoundForge to record the line input as 16-bit, 44KHz audio.
    3. If the source is noisy, use a DirectX plugin like SonicFoundry's NoiseReduction. It really cleans up the 'hiss' on tapes. You can also cut/trim and normalize the audio.
    4. Save the audio as 16-bit 44KHz WAV file.
    5. Burn using your favourite burning sw like Nero.

Yeah, isn't it a drag how you feel like re-doing all the audio/video stuff you digitized some years ago, because now you think you can do an even better job! Never ending.
