hursty, even though it may have taken care of it, you probably still need to check her HjT log to make sure no 'dead' registry keys lurk. Look for any 02 with 'ITCodec' as the folder and for the 021 entry with a random file name. SmitfraudFix will usually delete these keys but since safe mode wasn't used it may have left some behind.

Hello exodus125, please following the instructions in the first post to remove your problem.

After running SmitfraudFix and AVGAS run a scan only with HijackThis(in normal mode) and check these(if there):

    [bold]O2 - BHO: (no name) - {A8FB8EB3-183B-4598-924D-86F0E5E37085} - (no file)
    O3 - Toolbar: Protection Bar - {96ebbe6a-2864-4345-b32b-26ee9be524b5} - C:\Program Files\Silver Codec\iesplugin.dll [/bold] <--the root of your problem.
    [bold]O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcWzrd] ALCWZRD.EXE [/bold]

Close all windows excpet HjT, then click "Fix checked".

    Should be fine after that.

thanks for the help Niobis, I had ran the checks already, just like stated in your first post. I did a hijack log and found 2 of the 3 problems you pointed out, one of the three was not exactly on there, but there was one that was very similar, i just want you to verify whether i need to delete it or not before i do. Ive also noticed my computer running a little slower since this happened. here is the log:

    @[bold]help101[/bold]:

First, you're running HjT from a temp folder meaning if you fix something a backup will not be made. Extract the file from the .zip folder to a permanent folder before fix these.

Run a scan only with HijackThis and check these:

    [bold]R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {192c5b4a-3efd-40c7-9f99-c472deb8efc0} - C:\Program Files\Perfect Codec\isaddon.dll (file missing)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Memo Load Pile Grim] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS\Application Data\ace owns memo load\Blue balm.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [idleweb] C:\DOCUME~1\JEFF~1.DAD\APPLIC~1\THATHO~1\wipesoftwareclock.exe
    O21 - SSODL: featherweed - {ab340860-fd81-4a65-b345-82eb77a66b5e} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\jbtazy.dll (file missing)
    O21 - SSODL: gimmicks - {40dcff6e-af8d-4183-8ebe-a82270ac449e} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\dcvwaah.dll[/bold]

Close all windows except HijackThis, then click "Fix checked".

Restart in safe mode and delete these:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\[bold]dcvwaah.dll[/bold] <--file
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\[bold]ace owns memo load[/bold] <--folder...I think is a LOP infection, but the online scan will tell us for sure.

Search for the following file because I can't know the full name of the folder THATHO~1.
Delete this file if found by search.
    [bold]wipesoftwareclock.exe[/bold]

Empty the Recycle Bin and restart in normal mode.

    Go here and download [bold]CCleaner[/bold].
[bold]Note[/bold]: If you do not want [bold]Yahoo! Toolbar[/bold] uncheck the option when installing.
    Close all windows.
    Open [bold]CCleaner[/bold].
Click [bold]Options[/bold] > [bold]Advance[/bold] > uncheck "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours".
    Click Cleaner > [bold]Run Cleaner[/bold].

Then, run an online scan as stated in my guide and post the log here.

    @exodus125:

You're also running HjT from a temp folder meaning if you fix something a backup will not be made. Extract the file from the .zip folder to a permanent folder.

Your HjT log is clean. Have you run an online scan? Post the log when you get one.

Thanks a lot. My computer seems to be running much smoother. I have kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal installed on my computer. I was wondering if that would let me save a report and post it because the online version wants me to remove any Kaspersky stuff from my computer.

    Her is my HijackThis log:

Don't remove anything. :) just run ActiveScan instead.

    First, fix this with HjT:

Restart in safe mode and delete these:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\[bold]ace owns memo load[/bold] <--folder [bold]*note*[/bold] look in the All Users/Application Data folder and also all other account's Application Data folder for the 'ace owns memo load' folder.
    C:\Documents and Settings\Jeff.DADS-DEN\Application Data\[bold]that hold[/bold] <--folder
    C:\[bold]INCINERATE[/bold] <--folder
    C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\YPSR\Quarantine\[bold]ppq63.tmp[/bold] <--file

Empty the Recycle Bin and restart in normal mode.
    Empty System Mechanic's Quarantine.

Run CCleaner to clean cookies and temp files often.

How are things? Any more problems?

also i have a quick question, i read somewhere on this post that you reccomend using firefox instead of IE, once i download firefox, can i delete IE or will that cause problems with the computer? is that something where you jsut have to delte all the IE shortcuts an jsut kinda leave it in the background and use firefox? id like your opinion on this Niobis, also thanks for all your help, you seem VERY knowledgable with all this, your VERY helpful.
