Windows has a great wizard as well. Look under network connections in control panel.

    My favourite site.. http://www.geekgirls.com/windowsxp_home_network.htm

    lan gaming setup http://firingsquad.com/guides/lan/default.asp

    more is good.. http://tomshardware.co.uk/2004/04/10/lan_party/
    http://www.homenetworkhelp.info/index.php?pg=articles-lan-gaming&mn=a

While I remember.. If these machines have an internet connection you will be better using completely seperate network cards for this rather than a hub/switch, and not sharing either internet connection with this link.. security issues.

Thanks for the links ddp & janrocks
We are using a Cable which is straight-through The one in the picture.
    whats a CROSS-OVER CABLE?
What we did was connected one End of the cable in My PCs PORT and other in My Freinds PCs PORT and tried to MAKE NEW ADVANCED CONNECTIONS

WE DON'T WISH TO SHARE INTERNET CONNECTION JUST FOR FILE SHARING AND GAMING.

cross-over cable looks the same as straight thru but wires don't go to corresponding pin at other end of cable. otherwords not pin 1 to pin 1 but to pin 2.

Our distance is around 15-17 Feet So I guess A cross-over cable shall do fine.
