What will the settings suggested by geestar20 do on a dial-up connection. Yeah I know it sucks but it is all that is available. Thanks.
Probably should have put more thought into original question, sorry. I am also using a proxy server, an accelerator service provided through my ISP. Will changing those settings affect this at all and will any of these changes be included in the official release of Firefox 3?

    every little bit helps
it won't be by much but it will definitely be a noticeable improvement...

Although I went back and edited my original post to provide more detail, I went ahead and made the changes while waiting for a response.(Can always return to default) Anyway I think that I can tell a difference when using dial-up as well, not a "holy crap did you see that" difference but a fairly noticeable one nonetheless. Would still like to know if anyone sees a problem with these changes and using the proxy server as stated in my previous reply. Thanks for the great info.

This seems to speed up loading of all sites I use EXCEPT BBC sites, which are either much slower or give me a 'Page Load Error'.

does anyone else have this problem???
