This thread is originally from http://www.mobiledia.com/forum/topic18927.html

Anyone who have any tips or tricks for their Vxxx series phone please share it with us. Anything that is not mentioned in the manual is great. Please keep this thread on track and do not drift off to another topic or be a smartass. Thanks!
    I will start....

Number of rings before call goes to voicemail:

    Dial: *61*1xxxxxxxxxx**YY# Hit send
where x's represent your voicemail number
To find VM number: settings, messages, menu (3bars), voicemail setup

YY number of seconds before you want call to be forwarded to Vm, rigs are in 5 sec increment. Therefore, you can select 5,10,15,20,25,30. Remember 30sec is the maxium.

    Next:
Go to settings, call forward, voice calls, click on change, select off, select done.

    Speakerphone:
You can close your phone after you push speaker while on a call. You may need to end the call manually by holding down the small left softkey under the volume slider.

    VM password dial automatically:
If you do not wish to enter your password after holding down 1 for VM do this.

Go to your voicemail settings: settings, messages, menu (3bar lines), voicemail setup, voicemail no

    Change it to +1xxxxxxxxxxp(paswrd)#
Where x is voicemail number and ( ) is your password
TO get p: hold down *

    Phone Listings:
If you do not want to see 3 same name with different numbers on your phonebook listing do this.

Settings, phonebook, menu (3bar line), setup
    Set to this:
    View by: List
    Sort by: Name
    View: Primary Contact

    OPCODE to change bandwidth:
Click Menu then 048263* This open OPCODE
    Enter the following code:
    10*0*3 for GSM 900
    10*0*4 for GSM 1800
    10*0*5 for GSM 1900
10*0*6Dual band GSM 900/1800 (European and ASIA )
    10*0*7 North America GSM 850/1900.
Note:After you enter a selected code and hit ok you see Success it is done.

To copy a ring tone or wallpaper from one V600 to another V600 (or other BT phone), highlight the item you want to copy, hit the 'Menu' key, 'Copy', then 'Look for Devices'.
**Never tried this with video files however( too large).

During playing of MP3 files you can click "Hide" on the right softkey and it will go to the main screen and you can change tracks by clicking left or right. Also during play close your phone, it will still play. Clicking the END CALL button will stop the music.

When you want to make a phone call with bluetooth headset(voice dialing). Instead of pressing the headset button you can hit the V600 voice key.

In a phone call with your wired headset, and having the flip closed, just unplug the headset to turn it off. Its fast and quick to put the phone away without the headset being plugged in.

To bookmark a WAP page to your phone, press and hold the 'Menu' key.

If your games are too loud (You can't turn down the volume using the volume keys) you have to turn them down in the Java settings.
**You can find them at >> Menu > Settings > Java Settings > App Volume (goes upto 7)...and also some games have the vibrate feature on, so you can turn this on or off at this menu also. And also you can turn on / off the backlight

How to backup games from your phone to your PC.

Use p2kman to view the files on your phone.

Then you will see the a whole bunch of files in this directory:

    /a/mobile/kjava/

the files with the extention *.jar in this directory are your games.

eg: j2me0.jar -1st game on your list
j2me1.jar -2nd game on your list
j2me2.jar -3rd game on your list

"First, to enter the opcode screen, press Menu + 048263 + *. This will bring you to a box prompting you for an opcode. Before you can enter any codes, it will be necessary to suspend the phone. To do this, enter 54* and press OK. The display will go black and the phone will be suspended. Press the camera button on the outside of your phone to turn the backlight back on. You should see "SUCCESS" on the screen. Go back and then you can enter whatever opcodes you like. So far these are the ones I have that work - feel free to send more if you got them. About the only useful one is the audio level".

I bought a V551 yesterday and was wondering if anyone could tell me how to set a sound I created as someone's ring tone. I was told in the store that this is possible, but the manual is worthless. I was also told that this is possible for videos, is this true?

    Thanks.

to set the tone u have to save the contacts on ur fone not the sim card. anyway after saving them on the fone just go to the name u want and click on menu>Edit>Ringer ID, and set the tone u want...

but not sure about the video never heard that before!!!

    Change Quick Access Keys.

Menu(3 bars), settings, personalise, home screen, home keys, when ur on icons:"hide/show" (use the navigation keys to change to "hide") so u dont spoil ur wallpaper with them. still on the "home keys" u will find up,down, left, right, left soft, right soft, smart key... u can change these to what u want 2 access from the home screen.

Add Pic To Name,so pic shows when they phone.

As mossyy said "You need the name stored to the phone Not the sim card" go to phonebook, choose the name, menu (3bars),edit,When ur on store to: (use the navigation keys to change to "phone") go down to picture:(change to the pic u want)...
u will also have to have ur phone set to "open to answer:eek:ff" go to menu(3 bars),settings,in-call setup, answer options, open to answer (change to off).

This is a better way (I)n (M)y (O)pinion, to bypass your passcode for voicemail.
just go into your (V)oice (M)ail and hit star-0 (all other options) then press 4 (change your mailbox settings), then press 3 (change your log in options) then press 2 (pass code skip toggle) then listen to the voice and turn the pass code skip toggle ON

    that bypasses it completly.
I thought this was better than just editing your passcode into the phone number!!

Anyone know the trick of seeing the clock somewhere while on a call for v400? or is there a way to make the phonebook entry scroll across the screen on top rather than just staying in the same spot?

I was able to change the number of rings before the forwarding kicked in and all that for my v220, but my understanding is that one cannot use voicemail after making these changes. Is that correct? Three rings is a little short, so I'd like to give five or six rings before the voicemail kicks in. Following that first instruction I won't be able to do that, will I?

I downloaded mp3 ringtones from a free site and they are stored on my phone as ringer ID's. Does anyone know who to get them to actually work. I'd really appreciate that.

Is there a way to enable speaker phone option when we dial out numbers in v600. I saw this in Razr. Trying to figure out any fix is available. Appreciate your help.
