HP DVD 740, ready for the hammer treatment

    IN your case i think your burning a tad to fast try doing a burn at 4X 1st and if that succeeds then go to 8X. 16X Isnt really working for you just right now.

    Well if you were going to upgrade i wouldnt have used this version as its not the best.The last stable and most reliable version of the 6 series was 6.6.0.18, but you could either try that one or upgrade to 7


    Free physical memory is a must for burning dvd's, a lot of people these days have more than the 512 you have installed as this type of proceedure can be very resource hungry.Dont get me wrong it is achievable with what you ave but it would be better to have 1024 or more

    are you actually using lightscribe media to burn on: ?????

    Have you up[graded the firmware for your burner?

    It's set as the slave (1,1), but that's not really the problem.
    I'm with 'zeiram' on the burning speed.
    Also, set Nero to 'simulation' for the burn, until it's resolved.
    That way you insert a disc, but no actual burning takes place.
