So both programs give you the same error?

We might as well start by uninstalling the drive through Device Manager since it's easy and fixes a surprising amount of problems. Here's how:

    Go to Device Manager >

Expand the tree for DVD/CD ROM Drives >

Find the drive in question, right click it and go to Properties >

Under the Driver tab, select Uninstall then OK.

Now reboot and Windows should detect and reinstall the drive.

If this doesn't help try the same steps as above except expand the tree for IDE ATA/ATA Controllers and uninstall either the Primary or Secondary controller depending on which one the drive in question is attatched to. Nero Info Tool can tell you which chain the drive is on under the Configuration tab.

Let us know if this deos the trick. If not we'll see what else we can do :)

Thank you for your help. I'm sorry to say but I tried it did'nt work and there's no question marks in either dvd/cd rom drives nor IDE ATA. hope you could still help and I will greatly appreciated.

    more power!

Ok then, let's concentrate on Nero for now. Have you tried reinstalling Nero? If not then let's uninstall it then use Nero Clean Tools before reinstalling. Here's a link to Nero Clean Tools:

Well how about them apples! :)

Are you able to try the drive in another PC in order to verify whether it's the drive or something on your system causing the trouble?
