My HP DVD740b is not reading DVDs. CD-ROMs play well on it. I can burn CDs on it. However, it will not recognize any DVD I put in the drive. I've tried d/ling new drivers, to no avail. I've tried using PowerDVD as a DVD decoder, still no success. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

    Thanks,

    Josh

HI24 (ATA)think you can get it at HP.com enter your computer
number off the front of you case, several thinks should pop
    up.................

my computer was only 2 months old and had several updates
    like out of the box.

i also had to put a blank DVD/CD in each drive and set the region
on both, haven't had any problem since.

also my HP computer has a automatic updater from HP which in
your case should catch that up date it says HP SOFTWARE UPDATE
    in your programs list's.............................

    hope this helped you
    gday...............
