I've seen some disc protectors on the net, I can't give you any links 'cause I don't remember them but supposedly you put them in the ps2 discs tray and it stops cds from getting scratched. That's the only advice I can give. Unless your laser is actually touching the dvds and scratching them somehow???

i know a guy that had that prolem and he used those little felt stickers like for putting under vases and things to make them not damage tables and stuff. he used 3 of the smallest ones on the tray and it stopped the scratches. i think he said he paid $1.50 for like 40 of them at walmart.

Don't know how the mech is setup on the PS2, however I had this problem with the old PS1.

On the motor, there is a flat 'disc spindle' - this is just pressed onto the main spindle, after time (with the continued pressure of placing the disc) the spindle slides down - result is the disc gets lower towards the case.
(thus scratching when the disc is in motion)

I popped the spindle back up, by using a small screwdriver and placing a creditcard underneath to give me the clearance....(needed to be level)

As I said, I don't know if this is the same as the PS2 - but if it is then I would expect it is a similar situation....

telescope - have a look at it, as I said I DONT know if it is the same.

Also - do not be rough with it as it can snap VERY easily - I was fortunate as I had a spare PS1, so if I broke it - I could replace it...

Just a warning that is all - cos if you break it, it will need replacing - providing there is one of course...

Don't know the screws - torx or philips I presume.

I only know them described as watchmaker screw drivers - for being small....

Other than that, that is all I can add....

    Hope it helps
