Unless I'm very much mistaken, this optical drive is a DVD rom only.... I did a quick google/Yahoo on the drive model (just to be sure) and only came up with CD read and write----DVD read only memory. May I ask a silly question, have you ever backed up a DVD to another DVD with this drive?

    EDIT: Crap spelling.

Im having the exact same problem with My Nero. It stops at about 75% saying theres not enough disk room when at the beggining it states there should be. Ive been using Nero for a long time burning about 2 DVD's a week. All the settings are the same and I have already tried uninstalling and re-installing Nero. Im thinking I will try DVD shrink...

@murmle, At present we are trying to deal with bckicker's problem and by adding yours to the end of his thread makes it harder. I suggest you start a thread of your own, outlining your problem, Cheers.

I don't know if this well help or not but it will only take a minute to test. i had the same thing happen to me. it just stopped burning. could read fine cd and dvd fine. it turned out that id been messing with the power management on my motherboard bios and had disables it. i re enabled it and it started working as if nothing had even been wrong. cant hurt to try.

What changes have there been made to your rig, in the last fortnight, that would cause this issue? As kukujin states, any mods to Bios or other system settings, could very well be the problem.

    Cheers.

I noticed you were doing Nero Express "Quick Copy" burning as well as using an external burner:
You should stop copying on the fly. Uncheck the "Quick Copy" box on the Source and Destination page.
Use a slower (2.4X) burn speed.
This should provide a lower data transfer rate which should help.

Your "Failure to read data" error means that for some reason Nero could not read your source disc. Make sure the DVD you are copying is clean and scratch free.

Sorry it took me a while to reply, I haven't used my burner in the past couple weeks, or needed to, but I tried unchecking the quick copy option and it worked fine today. thanks to all that helped, i appreciate it.
