This seems to happen every few boots. I go to burn a cd, and Windows totally loses it. It runs, I push the open button, it opens; I close it, the green light blinks and seems to be reading it, but nothing ever happens. This even happens when I insert the Windows 7 installation disk (this is a Inspiron Core 2 Duo E1505 that originally had XP on it. However, when I boot up the laptop with the disk inside, the boot sequence loads the disk, and runs the setup utility for Windows 7, and after I restart it, it's running again.

I recently had to update my IObit 360 malware detector to a totally different version (still free, but it's like green instead of red), and I'm wondering if this program has anything to do with this problem.

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

uninstall the drive from device manager & restart windows so it can find new hardware & load it's driver.
