I have just downloaded a few movies from the net and they are all avi files. None of them will play in any program I use them in. I have downloaded at least ten new programs and nothing will work. Is my computer just too slow or what? Thanks in advance.
You have to have the correct codec instatlled. avi file type can have many forms of compression inside it. Many on the net are avi-divx or other types. I guess your computer (windows) should be at least 350 or 400 mHz. The codec will install and then be invisible. I think there is a way to see which codecs are installed. Start, settings, control panel, multimedia, then look around for codecs installed.
