ok so first off i have a error like 16 or somtihng and can not boot games or do anything i want to know how to hook up my comp so i can inject the dash back in. please kinda like how you do in on 360 some one please help
Ok, first of all, if you have a router, then hook your xbox up to it. get a ftp client, i would suggest FlashFXP since it is user-friendly to me, turn on the xbox, then on the comp, you have to try to connect to your xbox using the ip adress 192.168.1.xx (xx is where you input a number from 00 to 99) and use the username xbox and password xbox. I know it is a bit tedious but hey, what can i do? When your connected, copy the default.xbe from the C:/Backup/mod folder over to the E:/ drive or you can try to copy everything "dashboard" to the e drive,(NOT IN FOLDER). Hope that helps.
but thats a problem because for some reason i can never find my xbox in anything so i am not sure what to do.
click start, run then type "cmd" or if that wont work type "cmd.exe" When you get a black window, type in ipconfig Under ip address, the number would say 192.168.1.xx I dont know, but i think it might be different for some people such as saying 192.168.2.xx Tell me what yours says, and block out the last 2 numbers
This might make you pull your hair out, but you are going to have to do that whole 192.168.0.xx thing all over again you know (00 to 99). I thought you had the usual 192.168.1 ip address
your ip address's are set in boot order unless they are static so...; 192.168.0.1 is the router - almost always 192.168.0.2 will be your pc 192.168.0.3 your xbox! - or any other pc on your network and then xbox you need to know your xbox ip address to get connected to it through your FTP program, and its usually the last one in the listas its the last one you switch on, if you have five PC's on your network plus your router then your xbox ip is likely to be 192.168.0.7 but most likely you only have one pc so it will be 192.168.0.3 once your connected then your in and you can make your alterations. the alterations you want to make are a different subject - you need connection first. once your connected you can follow stevexbox advice to edit your dashboard settings or copy it completely. do some research on XBMC as a dashboard, its the dogs b*ll*x!
