ok heres the scenerio. I gave my sister three movies(kids) and thee three backups that go with it. The backups played fine at my house. She said they kept skipping around when she tried to play them. She the said she put in an original and it did the same thing. She then put one of her movie originals in and still the same thing. She is now kidding with me and telling me the movies i gave her "ruined" her DVD player. I told her its impossible because the are "read only" discs.

Im right, right? or could the "backups" have tainted her machine?
( i told her i think its a dirty laser or something. (Samsung player)

Give you sister a can of condensed air and spray it in her dvd player, with the tray out. Using a hard disc to clean may be risky. Some people like it,others don't.I refuse to use the disk.

Make sure you keep those discs clean.

If the originals are skipping also, then the player is most likely gone bad. She could try a dvd lens cleaner.
