I got the first model of ps2 that was released in the US, scph - *000001 or whatever. Now i want to modchip it so i can play burned DVD-R games, what is the best mod chip to get. Also how hard is the sodering, I messed up my PS-1 when trying to soder a modchip on that.

    http://www.modchip.com

They sell the magic 3 modchip which is a no-swap modchip that works with all versions of a ps2.

As for soldering. Unfortunatly you have to solder the modchip but there is a no solder modchip for sale there too but unfortunately you have to use a boot disk (GameShark or Action Replay) to boot up your games.

Why don't you spend some more money and let it solder for you.
I did that too and let my Messiah solder for me.
It works great but i have a PS2 30004R v5 so it won't work for you.
I think you have to buy a Magic chip. Just search on the internet for companies that sell them and solder them in your country nearby.

    Good luck....
