I have recently downloaded a few movies from a Torrent Site and once they are download, I find that the uploader has placed some type of coding in the movie that requires me to install their codec application. (Which requires you to install 7 other lame software applications.)

1st question - Is there a way to remove whatever it is he has placed in the file to prevent it from working?

2nd question - Is there really a movie there or is it just malware type BS?

an example of one of the files is "Top.gun.DVDRip.XviD-pbD" and it says it is an AVI file

There is a TEXT file that says

"If you get the error: Can't play the file.

Install the codecs from the /Codec/ Directory.

    Enjoy the movie!!"

    any ideas??

    Thanks

Piracy is not tolerated on this site
As for your movie consider it a fake or malware unless klite full can play it...If it can't try another torrent

Had never downloaded movies online, AnyDVD, MakeMKV, BDMagic are all good choice to make personal copy at home.
