You can create new ifo/bup files within ifoedit.

Should be a selection there to create new ones.

However, you may have to have an original ifo to open up in order for it to reference from.

I maybe wrong though - As I always used ifoedit with an original ifo....

Although I do believe (heard) that TMPGenc Dvd Author will create the ifo/bup from the vobs.
(again I haven't tried it so cannot provide you with more info - sorry)

I am sure someone else will jump in here...

I used ifoedit many moons ago so I am diggin around in the dark areas - lookin for the stone...

What you need from viewing your files.

Yes you need the VTS_01_0 ????? but it should be VTS_01_0.vob

You need to rename your vobs like so:
    VTS_01_0.vob
    VTS_01_1.vob
    VTS_01_2.vob
    VTS_01_3.vob

Now you have the VTS_01_0.ifo - the ifo contains all the information needed to link the vobs together.

I think becasue you have not got 01_0.vob then thats maybe why it doesn't work.

Once you have done the above - you require a VTS_01_0.bup file - this is just a backup of the ifo.

    Now if you open ifoedit.
    Open VTS_01_0.ifo

It should now display ALL of the information regarding the vobs/chapters etc...

All you need to do now is select vob extras.
Untick everything on the left EXCEPT create new ifo/bup - tick that
    Click ok

This should now create the ifo/bup for the vobs - man this is killing me, cannot remember Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggg!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, going to rip a movie and have a closer look at ifoedit and refresh, then I'll post back.

Meanwhile you could check out http://www.ifoedit.com - there are some good pointers here.

    Back in a while

    Forget the above.......

Right in order for a dvd to play in a standalone you must have:

a folder called VIDEO_TS (in uppercase), I have this on my desktop (create this yourself)

Now the files within should be something like this:

    VIDEO_TS BUP
    VIDEO_TS IFO
    VIDEO_TS VOB
    VTS_01_0 BUP
    VTS_01_0 IFO
    VTS_01_0 VOB
    VTS_01_1 VOB
    VTS_01_2 VOB
    VTS_01_3 VOB
    VTS_01_4 VOB

Obviously you have not got these yet, the VTS_01_0.vob maybe the front screen (universal/warner bros etc)

    Now with your files....

    Open up ifoedit
Click open (you may have to maximise your screen to see it - bottom left hand corner)

    Select the VTS_01_0.ifo

The screen should now display, all the info relative to the vobs you have got - chapters/times/vob id's etc.

Now click on vob extras - bottom right

Another window appears with lots of selections.

JUST THE LEFT HAND SIDE - tick ONLY these 3:

Correct Vob-Unit (navigational pack) pointers in Vob file
Correct ifo tables with new Vob-Unit information
    Create New VIDEO_TS.ifo + VTS_01_0.ifo

Then you will see a destination section at the bottom - point it to the VIDEO_TS folder you previously created.

    Right now just click OK.

Ifoedit will now run through the vobs - whilst referencing the initial ifo and construct the required files and author them for dvd compliance. (may take some time).

Once completed you will end up with the files as mentioned above contained within the VIDEO_TS folder you selected as the destination.

All you do then is burn using nero or Preferably recordnowmax(I use recnowmax).

And you should then have a dvd that will play no problems......

I think I have got that right, try it and if you have any issues - just post.

    Hope this helps......Baaaaaaaaaaaa!

    hi there,

thank you for the guide i will give it a go in a mo!

but i am confused if i rip a film in dvd decrpyter it only highlights these files for main movie rip? will these not play on a dvd standalone if i burn them?

also i did try ifo edit on just create ifo! with those files now it played on my pc now but wont load in a PS2 game consol?

but these files i must say started life as NTSC film!

    i went through this process!

DVDDecrypter = Strip/Rip main movie out of NTSC film/DVD

    DVD2AVI = Load .VOB's then create .d2v file, Also Sound file AC3 2CH 148Kbps 44Khz .WAV

TMPGEnc Plus = Load .d2v & Sound file AC3 and using PAL MPEG2 template. End up with a MPEG2 file

TMPGEnc DVD Author = Load MPEG2 file (couldnt load wave? so used MPEG2 file for sound and source aswell) probably good job as the sound sync may have been out!

ignore pic link its pal film! just testing what files i needreally?

    Thx...

I have never done NTSC (in the UK) but the principle should be the same....

If you have just an ifo and the relative vobs as you displayed - try it, it will not work I am sure....

The main reason that it will not work is that the player is not being told what to play.

This information is contained within the video_ts .ifo
Now in order for you to just run a movie the player has to access the video_ts.ifo - this is then told to goto VTS_01.ifo (or other) it then loads up the information from this file and knows where to find the relative vobs.

This is common to acces menus, or the movie....

The video_ts.ifo is the initial reference to what is contained on the dvd (like a TOC) and also contains a first play area - so when you insert the dvd it reads the video_ts.ifo and plays what it is told such as copyright warning or trailers etc.....

After you processed it through ifoedit - creating the ifo's - did you get video_ts.ifo and bup, VTS_01_0.ifo and bup and VTS_01_x.vob(upto maybe VTS_01_4.vob?

Main reasons it may not have worked in the PS2:
No VIDEO_TS folder (in uppercase) which contains the above files.
How it was burned - software and options, what were they.
    Cheap media.

The VIDEO_TS folder (in uppercase) is very important - did you have this?
