I am trying to use a different make of DVD-R than my normal. I usually use Snny but picked up Phillips DVD-Rs. I am unable to burn anything onto them as I get the message Illegal disc, here's the log:

the biggest thing here is that you have InCD installed with your Nero! that is a known cause of most errors with DVD burning by Nero! Uninstall InCD!!

this is 3rd class media..... crappy media being used and that's why you get: Illegal disc and Burn process started at 2x (2,770 KB/s)! You shouldn't be limited to burn at 2x! if Nero is setting this option for you then it's really not recognizing your crappy media. By MIJs (Made In Japan) disk! I only use Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim (the only exception to the MIJ rule). Taiyo Yuden can be bought online at supermediastore.com, rima.com, meritline.com and other reputable online store. I always have at least 250 to 300 blank TYs on hand.

this driver is from Easy CD Creator..... and sometimes interferes with Nero! here is a good read to uninstall this:
    http://www.plextor.com/ENGLISH/support/faqs/How_To/HT00001.html

follow these suggestions and you'll be burning in no time! good luck and welcome to Afterdawn!
