    hello all, first post here.

i just got a fliptop cover for my v7 ps2 and i installed it this morning to find that i get disk read errors. i never had a problem with disk read error before i installed the fliptop. but i panicked and started messing with my laser after reading up on dre fixes.

so after a long time of being angry i got nowhere. i took off the flipto cover and put my ps2 back together with the original components and all my disks worked fine. THEN i put the fliptop back on and loaded a game, and the DVD ver. of magic swap with no problem. but then i tried a DVD movie and got a disk read error and after that anything i put in gives me disk read errors.

i am thinking that the problem is with the fliptop cover and not the laser. maybe something to do with the magnetic part that holds down disks? i don't know. i have no idea. i'm upset and i am taking the day off school to get my damn ps2 and fliptop playing nice with each other. someone please help me!!! any advice/suggestions/whatever would be GREATLY appreciated.

    thanks in advance.

did you put the white disc in the fliptop correctly? Try leaving the fliptop open and just placing the white disc on the game.

i just tried that and the disk was not spinning at all?!?! what could this mean?

    EDIT

after trying a couple of times this little trick of your worked. you sir are a great man and i thank you for helping me out. one question though... why does it work with the white disk directly on the game as opposed to being fitted inside the fliptop?

did you happen to get your fliptop from ps2cover.com.... they usually have bad covers that usually are screwd up in some way.....

on mine.... the thing that held the little white disk in place was too far away from the disk so i had to fix it up buy putting a spacer in between the thing and the flip top...............

(meant to post this in the last post)

if it were me... id take my fliptop and sell it on ebay... get 100 bux together and buy a matrix infinity install from norcalmods.com, they also have cheaper, less quality chips but the infinitys deffinitly the best.... sorry about advertising,
