Imation 4X DVD +R works perfectly for me, so what's wrong?

I'm very new to DVD burning (about 40 so far).

I purchased a dual format drive that does +R at 8X.

First I purchased DVD X Copy Platinum's coaster maker. With it I had about 50% (or less success). Then I started using DVD Shrink with 100% success (about 30 disks so far).

My local Staples was selling Imation 4X +R disks on sale and they are about 2 minutes from my home. Those are the only disks I've used.

DVD Shrink defaults to 8X burn speed (as does Nero when I'm burning data DVD's).

Is it really burning 4X DVD's at 8X?

The movie DVD's look perfect. The data DVD's integrity checks are perfect (using several programs).

Am I just a lucky camper, or am I missing something?

Hee hee, many of us did!

Yep, it really is burning at 8X :) Many of the newer burners are able to burn 4X media at 8X. My Plextor 708A will do the same. Nice isn't it?
