    Hi All.

Made a stupid mistake on my comp today and got a trojan. Well, I suspect 2. I am getting this semingly faked system alert, and my browser has been hijacked. The two warnings I am getting are telling me I have trojan-spy.win32@mx and w32.myzor.f@yfHow I managed the 2nd one, Im not sure....

I know that w32.myzor.f@yf is a dummy trying to get you to download a rogue program (or so I have heard).

I think I know how to remove both, but I am looking for some advice. I am running Norton and Adware right now, hoping to pick up what ever this is. If that doesn't work can any one help me get rid of this?

I already have a copy of HJT... My main worry is corrupting my OS.

Anyone able to help me out?

    Thanks.
    M.

    Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Run the file, it will extract Smitfraudfix to its own folder and run.

Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note: process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Print this out for reference during the fix as you will be booting into Safe Mode and won't have access to this site.

Download ATF (Atribune Temp File) Cleaner© by Atribune to your desktop. Don't run it yet.

Reboot your computer in Safe Mode.

[*]If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
[*]Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
[*]Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
[*]Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
[*]Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
    [*]Login on your usual account.
    [*]Double-click on SmitfraudFix.exe
[*]Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press Enter.
[*]Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?" answer Yes by typing Y and hit Enter.
[*]The tool will also check if wininet.dll is infected. If a clean version is found, you will be prompted to replace wininet.dll. Answer Yes to the question "Replace infected file ?" by typing Y and hit Enter.

A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process, if you computer does not restart automatically please do it yourself manually.

The tool will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed.

Double-click ATF Cleaner.exe to open it.

    Under Main choose:

    Windows Temp
    Current User Temp
    All Users Temp
    Cookies
    Temporary Internet Files
    Prefetch
    Java Cache

    *The other boxes are optional*

Then click the Empty Selected button.

Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Close ALL open Windows / Programs / Folders. Please start AVG Anti-Spyware and run a full scan.

    [*]The page will refresh.
[*]Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
[*]Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
[*]Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
[*]Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.

Its acting like normal again. Thank you.

One question though... Earlier today when my laptop was infected I kept on getting a popup telling me that my computer was infected with a trojan (named: trojan-spy.win32@mx ) I thought that this was a trick.. but I'mm not sure. Was this just another trick trying to get me to download a rogue program?

Thanks again for your help. You made it idiot proof. Couldn't have been better.

That popup was part of the infection. It tries to trick you into downloading what is widley considered a Rogue AntiVirus/AntiSpyware program that will spit fake detections out at you in their "scans" and not clean them unless you purchase their "product".

    Its a scam.

And you're welcome... glad I could help :)
