Has anyone tried this for the ps2 slim, and does it work, and is this legal?

Of course swap majic is legal. The only thing that would make it illegal for you to use swap majic is if you were illegaly making copys of games or if you were using pirated music for customs or so on. Making back-ups for use with swap majic is legal as long as you own the original game. Modding games is legal as long as you dont use pirated software or so on to mod the game (and you must own the original game of course).

As far as Guitar Hero 2 Customs go, sure, you can use swap majic. Thats what i do and it works fine with me. In fact swap majic is better than any type of mod chip because the ps2 wont read it through DNA$ and you can play your burned games online (if you get the patch for making custom serials for bypassing DNA$).
